Something Missing

Sitting at the breakfast table eating toast and reading through the news. (Just another day)
I turn to you and look into your eyes but they just seem so far away.
My mind is saying one thing but my mouth is sometimes saying something else. (What should I do?)
I start a conversation making small talk in the silence of the room.
(and she said:)
Tell me can't you see?
What you need to be
Get yourself a plan.
Take it while you can.
Get up outa bed.
Pack up all your things.
Step into the light.
Head into the day.

There was always something on my mind I couldn't tell you what it was. (That's no way to feel.)
I guess I'm not unhappy though but maybe yes, but then I just don't know
I saw an old friend yesterday and asked him what he thought that I should do.
He told me I should recognise the reason that I feel the way I do (is over you.)

(and he said:)
Tell me can't you see?
What you need to be
Get yourself a plan.
Take it while you can.
Get up outa bed.
Pack up all your things.
Step into the light.
Head into the day.

Sitting at the breakfast table eating toast and reading through the news. (Just another day)
I turn to look across the table to the empty place where once you used to be.
Climbing from the wreckage of my life I find my body's getting stronger every day.
I'm picking up the pieces of a long forgotten promise that was shattered yesterday.

(and she said:)
Tell me can't you see?
What you need to do
Get yourself a plan.
Take it while you can.
Get up outa bed.
Pack up all your things.
Step into the light.
Head into the day.
Oh yeah!
